Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Power Specialist to join our team in Houston. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical power systems, providing technical expertise, and supporting the maintenance and operation of electrical infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of power systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
Key Responsibilities:
– Design, implement, and maintain critical power systems including UPS, generators, and other backup power solutions.
– Perform regular inspections and testing of electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
– Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to power outages, equipment failures, and other electrical anomalies.
– Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop strategies for improving power system reliability and efficiency.
– Manage and oversee installation projects, ensuring they meet technical specifications and are completed on time.
– Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
– Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
– Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of power systems and infrastructure.
– Respond to emergency situations and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
– Conduct risk assessments and implement preventative measures to safeguard critical power systems.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
– Minimum of 5 years of experience in critical power systems, preferably in a data center or industrial setting.
– Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and backup power technologies.
– Experience with UPS systems, generators, and other critical power equipment.
– Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for power system analysis.
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
– Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-pressure situations.
– Certifications in relevant areas such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar are a plus.
Working Conditions:
– The position may require occasional travel to client sites or remote facilities.
– Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in case of emergencies or critical situations.
– This role may involve working in environments with exposure to high voltage and other electrical hazards.
