Position Overview

An international engineering and infrastructure organization is seeking a Contracts Manager to lead commercial administration for renewable energy projects from development through construction, commissioning, and closeout. This person will structure and negotiate agreements, manage contractual obligations, and protect project value by identifying financial, legal, technical, and schedule exposure early. The ideal candidate combines commercial judgment with a practical understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and project delivery.

What You’ll Own

Lead the preparation, review, negotiation, execution, and administration of agreements supporting renewable energy projects.

Manage EPC, O&M, equipment-supply, consulting, land, interconnection, and power purchase agreements.

Develop contracting strategies that assign technical, commercial, financial, and schedule risk appropriately.

Evaluate indemnities, liability limits, warranties, insurance, guarantees, liquidated damages, force majeure, termination, and payment terms.

Interpret obligations, entitlements, milestones, notice requirements, and potential noncompliance for project teams.

Administer amendments, renewals, formal notices, claims, disputes, closeout activities, and record-retention requirements.

Evaluate change orders, delay claims, scope disputes, schedule impacts, and requests for additional compensation.

Prepare contractual correspondence and negotiate commercial resolutions that limit cost and schedule disruption.

Maintain contract registers, deliverable trackers, notice logs, change records, commercial reports, and performance measures.

Support sourcing events, proposal reviews, commercial evaluations, supplier selection, and contractor-performance monitoring.

Partner across legal, engineering, construction, procurement, finance, development, and asset management while improving templates, controls, and workflows.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor degree in business, law, engineering, finance, construction management, or a related field; directly relevant experience may be considered.

Five or more years of contracts, commercial-management, or contract-administration experience in energy, engineering, construction, or infrastructure.

Experience administering complex EPC, construction, engineering, equipment-supply, or operations and maintenance agreements.

Working knowledge of commercial risk provisions, including indemnities, liability limits, warranties, insurance, guarantees, liquidated damages, and force majeure.

Demonstrated experience with contract changes, claims, notices, negotiations, dispute resolution, and closeout.

Ability to interpret technical scopes, schedules, pricing structures, milestones, and performance requirements.

Strong writing, negotiation, organization, commercial judgment, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to independently manage competing priorities.

Willingness and ability to work on-site in Houston, Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

Eight or more years of contracts or commercial-management experience.

Direct experience supporting solar, wind, battery energy storage, or other power-generation projects.

Experience with EPC, PPA, O&M, land, interconnection, and major-equipment supply agreements.

Familiarity with project finance, grid interconnection, construction schedules, renewable performance requirements, or internationally distributed project teams.

Experience with a renewable developer, independent power producer, EPC contractor, utility, or infrastructure owner; professional Spanish proficiency is beneficial.

Success in This Role

Project agreements allocate risk clearly and support commercially sound, on-time delivery.

Notices, deliverables, obligations, changes, and deadlines remain organized, current, and defensible.

Claims and disputes are addressed early through well-supported analysis and disciplined negotiation.

Project teams receive practical guidance that connects contract language to field and financial consequences.

Templates, controls, reporting, and documentation practices become more consistent and effective.

Working Relationship

This role works closely with engineering, construction, procurement, finance, legal, development, asset management, owners, contractors, suppliers, and consultants. It is best suited for a commercially assertive professional who can challenge unfavorable terms, communicate risk clearly, and resolve issues without losing sight of project delivery.
